OUR STORY
It didn’t start on a napkin, like some iconic technology companies do, but there’s still a napkin involved.
The idea for Phrase Health was born during Dr. Marc Tobias’ clinical informatics fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he focused on clinical decision support and governance inefficiencies. At CHOP a small group of dedicated physician-informaticists joined forces to translate this academic research into practical tools that ease operational burdens and accelerate improved patient outcomes.
Phrase Health later spun out of CHOP with a vision to apply robust quality improvement methods to the EHR, a tool where clinicians spend half their day.
As for the napkin? We captured an unnecessary alert (water spill = mess alert) that exemplifies the digital noise clinicians face daily. It's become a team and customer favorite, reminding us what we're solving. Because when health systems focus on clinicians and their patients instead of bogged down with EHR sleuthing, everyone wins.
